EY publishes different details in different countries. This page separates what each EY page states from what remains unconfirmed.
EY describes online assessments inside its own portal for UK early careers, and a three-section assessment sent through SHL for US early careers. EY's UK pages mention formats such as interpreting tables, charts and graphs, and EY-Parthenon publishes a numerical reasoning guide, but no UK page I read names a provider or gives time limits.
One reason candidates get conflicting advice is that EY runs separate processes in separate countries, and each country page says something slightly different. This table keeps them apart.
| Topic | UK pages | US pages |
|---|---|---|
| Where the tests run | EY's own assessment portal, with a preparation hub | Platform with invitations sent from SHL |
| Structure | Realistic Job Preview, then a behavioural skills test, per the application page | Three sections, two untimed and one timed |
| Duration | Time limits are given in your invitation | Typically 45 to 60 minutes, complete within 48 hours of invitation |
| Retakes | EY may ask you to re-sit at any point | One attempt per validity period |
| Practice | Example questions before the timed section; prep hub | Optional practice questions before the timed section |
The US wording is the only place I found SHL linked to EY by the platform and invitation address. The UK pages do not name a vendor.
EY's UK application page lists an assessment preparation hub inside the portal, then online tasks that begin with a Realistic Job Preview focused on teamwork and learning capability, followed by a behavioural skills test. The UK FAQ then describes the formats you may meet: choosing from options, interpreting a table, chart or graph, dragging items into place, identifying patterns, and recording a video response.
Two practical conclusions follow. First, some of the items are data interpretation and pattern work, which are the same families as numerical and abstract reasoning practice. Second, much of the content is about working preferences and behaviours, and ReasonEra does not cover that part.
EY-Parthenon, the strategy arm, publishes a short quick-reference PDF about its Numerical Reasoning Test. It says the test works with currency, percentages and ratios inside hypothetical business scenarios, and that questions vary: pick one answer, rank items, or type in a figure.
The UK FAQ says you must complete assessments alone, keep your camera on if asked, and accept a re-sit if EY requests one. If help is suspected, EY says the assessment can be suspended and an application rejected or an offer withdrawn. The US FAQ separately says generative AI tools are prohibited. These rules matter more than any tip, so read them before you begin.
EY lists extra time, speech-to-text and magnification software, closed captions and early venue access as available adjustments. The UK page gives 25% as the usual maximum extra time and says medical evidence is not required for recruitment adjustments. You need to ask before you complete any assessment, because EY says it cannot offer a re-sit after the fact. EY says it will share the outcome after reviewing responses and gives no fixed timeframe. The US FAQ adds that individual scores are not given to candidates.
Because EY does not publish the exact UK test list, aim at the skills EY mentions: reading tables and charts, handling percentages and ratios, and spotting patterns.
If you meet a numerical or pattern practice question you cannot solve, ReasonEra can explain it. Upload a screenshot of the practice item, choose Tutor Explanation, and read the steps. It supports numerical, abstract, inductive and diagrammatic question types among others. You get 3 free trials with a free account, then the 14-Day Pass at 49 € gives unlimited use for 14 days. It is built for learning from practice material, so keep it away from your live EY assessment.
Details move quickly in graduate recruitment, so confirm anything important with the recruiter.
Use ReasonEra to build the skill, but some assessments are proctored and many forbid any assistance, so use it beforehand and sit the real test on your own.
EY-Parthenon publishes a numerical reasoning guide, and EY's UK FAQ lists interpreting tables, charts and graphs among assessment formats. Whether your specific scheme includes a numerical test is shown in your invitation.
EY's US assessment invitations come via SHL. The UK pages read for this guide do not name a provider.
The US FAQ says the three-section assessment typically takes 45 to 60 minutes. For the UK, EY says time limits appear in your invitation.
The US FAQ says you may take the assessment once in the validity period. In the UK, EY says it may ask you to re-sit, and it will not allow a re-sit if you ask for adjustments after completing.
EY's UK page says the maximum extra time it can usually offer is 25%. Requests must be made before you complete any assessments.
