AI Abstract Reasoning Solver

Upload a screenshot of an abstract reasoning question, get the answer in seconds, and learn the rule behind it. Works in your browser.

The short answer

ReasonEra is an AI solver and tutor for abstract reasoning questions. You upload a screenshot or photo of a shape-based puzzle; it returns the answer and, in Tutor Explanation mode, the rules behind it, such as rotation, movement, counting and shading. Use it to practise and learn.

How to use the abstract reasoning solver

  1. Grab the question. Screenshot or photograph it with all of its answer options visible. Use practice material you have the right to use.
  2. Send it to ReasonEra. Upload the image in your browser. No download, no QR code.
  3. Pick how much help you want. Quick Verify returns the answer alone, for self-testing. Tutor Explanation adds the reasoning, one rule at a time.

What abstract reasoning questions look like

Abstract reasoning tests are non-verbal. You see shapes arranged in a sequence, a grid or a set of groups and must find the hidden rule, then pick the option that fits. They test pattern recognition and rule finding rather than knowledge.

Worked example: a rotation matrix

Question: Each row has one shape, and it rotates 90° clockwise from one column to the next. What goes in the last cell?

?Answer
Original practice example: each row rotates its shape 90° clockwise per column.

Answer: The L-shape rotated 180° clockwise from its starting position, as drawn in the answer box.

How the reasoning goes:

  1. Look across row 1: the triangle turns 90° each cell. Row 2 does the same with the arrow.
  2. Check row 3: the L-shape starts upright, then turns 90°. The pattern is the same for every row.
  3. Apply the rule once more: the third L-shape is the second one turned another 90°, which is 180° from the start.
  4. Confirm against the options: only one option shows the L-shape rotated 180°.

How accurate is the abstract reasoning solver?

Category in the benchmarkGeneral models testedSpecialised models
Advanced matrix reasoning (Raven's, Matrigma, Alva Labs style)51–76%96–99%

These numbers come from ReasonEra's own benchmark of 30 November 2025. It used 500+ analogous public items from 15 providers, with blind testing, identical inputs and no proprietary items. The general models (GPT-4o, Claude Opus 4.5, Gemini 2.0 Pro, GPT-o1, Grok 2) were the versions available then and have since been updated. No independent party has verified the results. Read the benchmark.

Practice tips

  • Name the rule out loud before you look at the options.
  • Check rows and columns separately, then diagonals.
  • Eliminate options that break even one rule.
  • Use Quick Verify to test yourself, then Tutor Explanation to study what you missed.

Limits to know about

  • A clean, uncropped image gives the best result. Poor lighting or a partial capture can lead to errors.
  • A few puzzles can be read two ways, and the answer a test expects may not be the one the tool prefers.
  • Questions that combine several rules at once are harder for any tool, so read the explanation to confirm each rule.
  • If the logic looks off, trust your own check over the tool and compare the two.

Practice is the point

Rules about outside help usually apply to the real assessment, not to your preparation. Read the instructions in your invitation, and keep ReasonEra for the practice you do beforehand.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can AI solve abstract reasoning questions?

Image-capable AI can attempt them, but accuracy depends on how well a model reads the shapes and finds a consistent rule. ReasonEra is built only for pre-employment tests, and its published benchmark concluded that specialised models outperform general-purpose models on these tasks.

How do I use the ReasonEra abstract reasoning solver?

Take a screenshot or photo of the question, upload it in your browser, and choose Quick Verify for the answer only or Tutor Explanation for the answer plus the rules. There is nothing to install and no QR code.

Is the abstract reasoning solver free?

You get 3 free trials with a free account. After that, a 14-Day Pass costs 49 € as a one-time payment, with unlimited use across all supported tests.

What is the difference between abstract and inductive reasoning?

Abstract reasoning is non-verbal pattern finding with shapes. Inductive reasoning means inferring a general rule from examples, and in many tests the two use similar shape-based questions.

Which abstract reasoning tests does ReasonEra support?

ReasonEra has guides and solvers for tests including Sova, Saville, Hudson, Mercer Mettl, Clevry, TestGorilla, SHL, Revelian, Talogy Logiks and Psytech. See the list on this page.
