AI Diagrammatic Reasoning Solver

Upload a diagrammatic reasoning question, get the answer in seconds, and see which rules the diagram applies.

The short answer

ReasonEra is an AI solver and tutor for diagrammatic reasoning questions. You upload a screenshot or photo of a diagram with operations or transformations; it returns the answer and, in Tutor Explanation mode, the rules the diagram applies, step by step. It is a study tool for practice.

How to use the diagrammatic reasoning solver

  1. Screenshot the question. Include every option, and stick to practice material you may use.
  2. Drop it into ReasonEra. It works from your browser, so there is nothing to set up.
  3. Decide on the level of detail. Answer-only if you want to figure out the logic yourself, or a full walk-through of the rules if you are stuck.

What diagrammatic reasoning questions look like

Diagrammatic reasoning questions show input shapes passing through a set of operations, such as rotate, flip, change colour or add an element, and ask for the output or for the missing operation. Many are close to abstract reasoning but add explicit rules or symbols.

Worked example: apply the operations in order

Question: An L-shape is rotated 90° clockwise and then mirrored left to right. Which result is correct?

Start1. Rotate 90° cw2. Mirror left-right
Original practice example: apply the steps in order.

Answer: The third shape in the figure: the L-shape after the rotation and then the mirror.

How the reasoning goes:

  1. Write the operations as an ordered list: first rotate 90° clockwise, then mirror left to right.
  2. Apply step 1 only and draw the intermediate shape.
  3. Apply step 2 to the intermediate shape, not to the original.
  4. Compare with the options. A common distractor applies the mirror first, which gives a different shape.

Practice tips

  • Apply operations in the order given, one at a time.
  • Draw intermediate results on paper.
  • When two options differ slightly, check the order of operations.
  • Use Tutor Explanation when a legend or symbol is new to you.

Limits to know about

  • Accuracy drops with blurry or cut-off images, so check the upload shows everything.
  • Items with more than one defensible answer are an inherent weak spot for any solver.
  • A legend or symbol key that is cut off in the screenshot can change the answer, so include the whole diagram.
  • Mistakes happen. If an explanation does not make sense, question it and work the logic through yourself.

Before you rely on any tool

Assessment instructions differ from one employer to the next, and some tests are proctored. If anything is unclear, ask the recruiter. ReasonEra is for learning the patterns in advance.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is diagrammatic reasoning?

It is a test of your ability to follow rules shown in diagrams, such as operations applied to shapes, and to work out the result or the missing rule.

Can AI solve diagrammatic reasoning tests?

Image-capable AI can attempt them, but order-of-operations and symbol rules are easy to misread. ReasonEra is built for pre-employment tests and explains the rules step by step so you can check the logic.

Which diagrammatic tests does ReasonEra support?

ReasonEra has guides and solvers for Saville Diagrammatic Analysis, Saville Swift Analysis and Hudson A-RAT 3R. See the list on this page.

What do the free trials include?

Yes, there are 3 free trials with a free account. Unlimited access for 14 days costs 49 €.

How is it different from a general AI assistant?

ReasonEra is built only for pre-employment tests, so you upload the question and choose a mode, with no prompt to write. A general assistant is more flexible but needs a prompt, and its accuracy on visual puzzles varies.
