AI Spatial Reasoning Solver

Upload a spatial reasoning question, get the answer in seconds, and see the rotations and transformations step by step.

The short answer

ReasonEra is an AI solver and tutor for spatial reasoning questions. You upload a screenshot or photo of a question about rotation, mirroring or folding; it returns the answer and, in Tutor Explanation mode, the transformation steps. Use it while you study, not as a shortcut.

How to use the spatial reasoning solver

  1. Capture it. Take a screenshot or photo of the question, including its options, from practice material you are allowed to use.
  2. Upload it. Open ReasonEra in your browser and upload the image. There is nothing to install and no QR code.
  3. Choose a mode. Quick Verify shows only the answer so you can work out the logic. Tutor Explanation shows the answer and the rules, step by step.

What spatial reasoning questions look like

Spatial reasoning questions ask you to imagine shapes being rotated, mirrored, folded or combined, and to pick the matching result. They test mental visualisation and are sensitive to the order of operations.

Worked example: rotate, then mirror

Question: Take the L-shape, rotate it 90° clockwise, then mirror it left to right. Which result is correct?

Start1. Rotate 90° cw2. Mirror left-right
Original practice example: apply the steps in order.

Answer: The third shape in the figure.

How the reasoning goes:

  1. Break the move into two steps and keep them in order.
  2. Rotate the L-shape 90° clockwise and note where its long arm points.
  3. Mirror that intermediate shape left to right.
  4. Reject options that give the same shape for the steps in the opposite order.

An invented practice question, included to demonstrate the reasoning.

Tests where you will meet spatial questions

ReasonEra has practice guides for these tests:

How accurate is the spatial reasoning solver?

ReasonEra's published benchmark covered non-verbal and logic tests, so it does not give a figure for this question type. We do not quote an accuracy number we cannot support. Try the free trials on your own questions to judge how it performs. Spatial questions were not a separate category in that benchmark.

Practice tips

  • Turn the page or your head if it helps you check a rotation.
  • Track a distinctive corner or feature through each step.
  • Apply steps one at a time.
  • Use Tutor Explanation to see the steps drawn out.

Limits to know about

  • Blurry, cropped or distorted screenshots can lower accuracy, so upload a clear, complete image of the question.
  • If a puzzle is genuinely ambiguous, the tool and the test setter may disagree.
  • The order of mirror and rotation steps is easy to confuse, so retrace the steps in the explanation.
  • Use the explanation to learn, and challenge it when a step looks wrong.

Responsible use

ReasonEra supports learning. It is not intended for use during assessments that forbid outside help, and we do not endorse using it that way.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can AI solve spatial reasoning questions?

AI can attempt them, but mirror and rotation order are easy to get wrong. ReasonEra explains the transformation steps so you can check them.

How do I use it?

Take a screenshot or photo of the question including all options, upload it in your browser, and choose Quick Verify or Tutor Explanation.

Which tests include spatial questions?

ReasonEra has guides for assessments that include spatial reasoning, such as Thomas GIA, Criteria CCAT and Cognify, Saville Swift, TestGorilla and Aon cut-e. See the list on this page.

Is it free to try?

Yes. A free account includes 3 free trials. After that, a 14-Day Pass costs 49 € with unlimited use across all supported tests.

How can I improve at spatial reasoning?

Practise one transformation at a time and use paper to draw each step, then check your reasoning against the explanation.
