AI Game-Based Assessment Practice

Understand the rules behind game-based assessments such as Cognify, Arctic Shores and Aon GapChallenge, with AI explanations of what each task measures.

The short answer

ReasonEra has guides and solvers for several game-based assessments. You upload a screenshot of a task screen and get the answer or the rule and, in Tutor Explanation mode, an explanation of what the task is measuring. Some fast-moving tasks are harder for any tool. The goal is that you learn the pattern yourself.

How to use the game-based assessment solver

  1. Grab the question. Screenshot or photograph it with all of its answer options visible. Use practice material you have the right to use.
  2. Send it to ReasonEra. Upload the image in your browser. No download, no QR code.
  3. Pick how much help you want. Quick Verify returns the answer alone, for self-testing. Tutor Explanation adds the reasoning, one rule at a time.

What game-based assessments look like

Game-based assessments wrap cognitive tasks in short games. You might sort shapes, track moving objects, spot a changing rule or answer quick number questions, often against the clock. They measure the same skills as classic tests, such as pattern finding, working memory and speed.

How practice works for game-based tasks

Question: A task shows a grid of shapes and says a hidden rule has changed. You must work out the new rule from a few examples and apply it.

Answer: ReasonEra explains the rule in the screenshot and what the task measures, so you recognise the pattern next time.

How the reasoning goes:

  1. Capture a clear screenshot of the task screen when you are practising.
  2. Upload it and choose Tutor Explanation to see the rule.
  3. Identify what changed from the previous round.
  4. Repeat with new rounds until you spot rule changes quickly.

This example is ours, built to illustrate the idea, and is not taken from a live test.

How accurate is the game-based assessment solver?

Provenance: ReasonEra's benchmark, 30 November 2025. Sample: 500+ analogous public items across 15 providers. Protocol: blind, identical inputs, no proprietary items. Comparison set: GPT-4o, Claude Opus 4.5, Gemini 2.0 Pro, GPT-o1 and Grok 2 as of then. Status: self-reported and updated models exist now. Read the benchmark. Specialised models also struggled with hyper-gamified micro-elements in some Arctic Shores tasks, according to that benchmark.

Practice tips

  • Learn the rules of each mini-game before the real thing.
  • Practise changing rules, not just fixed ones.
  • Balance speed and accuracy.
  • Use short practice sessions to avoid fatigue.

Limits to know about

  • A clean, uncropped image gives the best result. Poor lighting or a partial capture can lead to errors.
  • A few puzzles can be read two ways, and the answer a test expects may not be the one the tool prefers.
  • Fast, moving tasks cannot be captured in a single screenshot, so results are weaker for them.
  • If the logic looks off, trust your own check over the tool and compare the two.

Preparation, not substitution

The skill you build by understanding each explanation is what carries into the real test. Use the tool to learn, and use your own reasoning when it counts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can AI help with game-based assessments?

AI can explain the rule in a screenshot of a task, which helps you learn the patterns. Fast-moving tasks are harder, and ReasonEra's own benchmark noted that specialised models struggled with hyper-gamified micro-elements in some Arctic Shores tasks.

Which game-based tests does ReasonEra cover?

ReasonEra has guides and solvers for Criteria Cognify, Arctic Shores (Cosmic Cadet, Energy Sparks, Numerical Nexus) and Aon GapChallenge and SwitchChallenge. See the list on this page.

Can I try it for free?

You can start free: every account includes 3 trials. A 14-Day Pass, at 49 €, then gives unlimited use across all supported tests.

Why are game-based tasks harder for AI?

They move quickly, change rules and use small visual elements, so a single screenshot may not capture everything.

Is it acceptable to use it in a real assessment?

It is meant for studying. Real assessments are governed by the employer's conditions, and many ban outside help, so read the instructions first.
